Ready To Take Flight

One Eye Open
Can I help it that I think everything in America is a set up? Everything is so painfully demeaning to the "sovereign people" the nightly news is satire.

Both Guilty and Innocent
One of the jewels of wisdom is realizing things that appear different are usually the same in more ways than we can imagine. We can find similarities in our enemies and ourselves. That is the beauty of humanity, of this life. The understanding that beneath all that is superficial we are all connected with the same fiber, with the same ripcord to the parachute that saves us all.
We can point the finger in blame but amongst man, there are no innocents. Therefore, the finger can be pointed at us just the same. I believe in karma because I don’t believe the universe wastes an ounce of energy. Because of that, I think it is we, the living, who must account for the bad deeds of our fathers. People in our society and every other society before us, save the first one, are certain theirs is the last civilization and the times they live are the most immoral. I don’t know if that is a sign of an overactive ego or a sign that man has a low opinion of himself. I am about to make the same observation so I won’t elaborate any further on the mental disorder that leads to our “We’re doomed!” mentality. No, I do not believe our civilization is the series finale. I do believe our times are some of the worst in history; we are the result of several generations of bad karma. This world is so old, so much has been said and so much has been done. Again, no one is innocent here.
We are all playing on the same field that is what makes us equal. I say this because I turned on the news this morning to hear people debate the issue of building an Islamic Center a few blocks away from the 9/11 ground zero site in New York. Before I go any further, I should say that I understand a great number of people lost loved ones that day. It was a horrible thing that should have never happened to anyone. I do not imagine the people responsible are or will ever be at any type of peace. My heart breaks when I think about loss at any magnitude so that day my soul was wounded; just the same as my soul weeps for the Muslim civilians being killed on the other side of this line of fire. No one is innocent.
A decree that a group of people cannot mark a place where one or a few of them have shed blood is a difficult rule to abide by, especially in 2010. Don’t American soldiers leave American flags in the areas of their occupation? Build a mosque there; build a church, a cathedral, a synagogue, a temple, a shrine and every other place of worship I did not mention. Christians and Catholics have shed blood in the name of God, as have Muslims. I am sure present day Christians do not want to be held accountable for The Crusades or the Salem Witch Trials. Well, the Muslim population of America does not want to be held accountable for the actions of Al Quaeda. No one is innocent. We have to choose to start doing things differently so the mark we leave and the energy we create will benefit the next generations and not poison them.

Sick Nation
I absolutely refuse to watch any of these Doctor/Health Information centered television shows. I don’t think this hypochondriac society needs any more medical conditions or new diseases to think themselves into. The news is bad enough they tell you something is good for you one day and it will kill you dead the next; but an entire hour of ailments and symptoms for us to worry ourselves sick about, you can keep it.
Somewhere in a secluded boardroom, pharmaceutical company execs are meeting and laughing about all this. If you dig deep enough I am sure they have a hand in the financial backing of these television shows. Think about the turn around; they tell us about the disease and maybe 30% of the impressionable audience nationwide hallucinates the symptoms and rushes out to their physicians. Then, BAM expensive prescriptions for everyone. Where are all these new diseases coming from anyways? Seriously, did people suffer from restless leg syndrome in the 70’s or did they just get their asses up and walk around when their legs began to tingle from too much sitting.
We don’t even need doctors to diagnose us any more. With sites like WebMd you can go on and pick your own poison read through the symptoms, run to your Doctor and place an order for the pills. But things get scary when the diseases take to our television sets so you don’t even have to hit the internet, hypochondria hysteria now comes conveniently to a living room near you. The commercials are the sickest. They tell you about the side effects no holds barred but people still go on and take it! I’m sorry anything that will make me drive a car while asleep and not remember it the next morning is not some shit I want to get involved with. There’s one drug that may cause you to have uncontrollable sexual and gambling urges. What could this drug do to my brain to make me crave slot machines?! Moreover, how are some of those side effects any different from the effects of street drugs?
Pharmaceutical companies are, however, on top even in this struggling economy. The banks are tanking but the pill pushers are comfortable, it is laughable. We as a society have to be dumb, gullible, naïve or all three.

Lucky Me
Everyone has luck. Some people are lucky enough to win contests or find money on the street. Some of us are lucky enough to find love. Some of us are lucky enough to lose love when it becomes punch drunk. But, sometimes we’re just lucky enough to break even and learn from the hard knocks life deals us. I guess that’s the optimistic spirit in me. Even when life is tough it’s still nice and I’m lucky enough to get the point.

Peace (Poem)
The night is my Kingdom,
I alone am my ruler and my court,
I prefer silence over noise and peace over excitement,
At times I crave companionship and disturbance
But here in my solitude is my normal,
This is where my thoughts have no interference
Ceilings and walls do not exist
I have no rules and no boundaries,
I am pure spirit, pure light
In this night, I am liberated
I alone am my ruler and my court,
I prefer silence over noise and peace over excitement,
At times I crave companionship and disturbance
But here in my solitude is my normal,
This is where my thoughts have no interference
Ceilings and walls do not exist
I have no rules and no boundaries,
I am pure spirit, pure light
In this night, I am liberated

Dear Black Man,
Dear Black Man,
My love is fierce for you. So many of our foes have and will try to break this bond but I vow to stay true. There is no circumstance that will cause me to waver. There will never be a reason for me to leave your side. I created you and you built me. I protect you and you protect me. Even when you are dead wrong your truth will live in me. WE were here in the beginning and together we will be in the end.
Love,
Black Woman

Disentanglement Manifesto
There is not another culture in history that bears the same handicaps as Black American culture. We as a people have never had the chance to build a solid foundation without the infiltration of others beliefs or forced assimilation into morale lacking American culture. There are some prominent areas that I think deserve our undivided attention that will aide us in the construction of a prosperous value base. Those areas are but not limited to education, finance, family dynamic, healthcare and community. This can seem like an overwhelming series of tasks but above all during this construction we must remember that we are a people of extraordinary talent, resilience and intelligence. Knowledge of that will see us through to our ultimate goals.
Segregation is not only a vital component to our success but also a desperate necessity. American history has proven to us that we will not prosper while being integrated, for years we have experimented with the levels of greatness we can reach in this society and we still fall short especially while our people continue to suffer. I know the word segregation can ignite very hurtful feelings in our hearts but this is because the original segregation we experienced was based on hatred and fear. So from here out let us plan to disentangle ourselves and focus solely on our culture. Our disentanglement should be based on self and community preservation, unity and common compassion for one another as a people. This should also not be a fearful separation. The sheer understanding of the principal hand we had in building this country up to greatness should be a testament to what we are capable of. We have professionals that excel in every industry and occupation and with a strong core belief structure we will undoubtedly be able to form a new and more perfect society.
Education needs to be at the top of the priority list because nurturing our youth is imperative to our longevity. We need to call to duty all of our educators and administrators to begin devising a curriculum and learning structure conducive to our children to create the most ideal educational environment. Experts in each field of study will be commissioned to create textbooks to support the committee-approved curriculum. Also in conjunction with the healthcare reform to be discussed further in this document will need to be consulted and applied to devise a healthy nutritional and physical exercise plan for the children.
The revenue generated by our communities service a large part of the current economy. We need finance reform to harvest that economic power and use it to our benefit. By not owning the businesses in our communities we are systematically funneling the money we earn away from our people and neighborhoods. We immediately need to begin pooling a portion of our financial resources to fund the efforts of the education reform. From there a committee of our financial and investment professionals will need to be formed to create a safe, fair and diverse banking system. Entrepreneurship should be encouraged and investment seed money for those ventures will be reviewed upon and rewarded by the finance committee to begin creating an economy.
Healthcare reform is another avenue of our construction that will rely heavily on the financial reform. Medical professionals will be called to duty to treat, prevent and care for the genetic diseases plaguing our culture. Special attention will also need to be given to the individuals plagued by dependency on street, over the counter and prescription drugs. Working to correct and check obesity and poor nutritional and physical activity habits will provide the building blocks to longevity. Focusing on making us all healthier people will build us a stronger society.
Joining together to repair the plagues of our society will no doubt will begin to strengthen and unite us as a community but it is important these relationships are nurtured through trust, honesty and a successful economy. Most of the issues separating us from one another come from American ideals and attitudes so the further we move away from unethical policies and closer to morality the stronger we will be as a people. We all have an individual responsibility to work towards balancing and strengthening our own family units. Balancing the roles within our households and taking an active role in raising and nurturing our children is essential to success. Empowering men back to the patriarchal place they hold in our families will be all of our responsibilities as well as ensuring the respect and protection of women. Balancing family life will give our future leaders an ideal environment to flower and ready themselves for greatness.
I have provided a mere skeleton of the blueprint this society should follow. There will be changes along the way to strengthen these ideals and solidify the prosperity of our society but it is important that we follow the core values of this structure and remain true to ethics, respect, trust and equality. Remember that this disentangled society is not based on hate; that we will not remove ourselves from other races out of disdain for their differences only for the preservation and growth of our people and our society. We must learn from the mistakes made throughout history and let unity motivate us instead of hate oppression and fear. What has been discussed in this document and all things that will come from it are possible and more realistic than ever before and we will move to realize our momentous destiny and bond together as a truly united society.
